ARIS is a user-friendly, open-source platform for creating and playing mobile games, tours and interactive stories. Using GPS and QR Codes, ARIS players experience a hybrid world of virtual interactive characters, items, and media placed in physical space. To learn more about ARIS sign up for an ARIS Workshop. ARIS workshops are offered several times each year.

Want to bring mobile learning to your classroom and increase comprehension and interest in a subject area? Try our ARIS workshop ! ARIS: Augmented Reality Interactive Storytelling lets students experience mobile learning/game based learning using iPads, iPods, iPhones and ARIS. ARIS lets students take virtual field trips and use interactive storytelling all around the world or learn more about their own community with place based learning. ARIS grabs the attention of students with its use of cameras, videos, QR codes, and GPS.

Augmented reality which is game based learning is an upcoming trend in education according to the 2012 Horizon Report. Within two to the three years, most schools will have adopted this concept of allowing mobile gaming in the classroom to help increase comprehension and retention.

ARIS workshop is offered throughout the year for FREE through the Teaching with Primary Sources Program at GSU and the Library of Congress.

ARIS was created by a David Gagnon and his staff at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Visit www.arisgames.org for more information about ARIS games.
